2009 Summer Chess Fest

Page history last edited by brian raymer 14 years, 1 month ago

The first Annual Summer Chess Fest was sponsored by the City of Victoria  July 20 and 21, 2009 at Confederation Park

Thank you to the City of Victoria for their generous support for this event. There is an exciting line up of events planned with something for everyone including demos, open events, learn to play and information sessions. See the event schedule for more information. Most of the events will take place in Confederation Park (map of area) adjacent to the Hotel Grand Pacific and the Provincial Legislature Building on Menzies St. The Chess Festival will be followed by the Canadian Youth Chess Championships which is expected to attract 200 players and their families to Victoria.

The Summer Chess Fest is a free outdoor event open to everyone.  Some events will be limited entry or invitational.  Everyone is welcome to watch and enjoy the fun.  All ages are welcome.

Check out the schedule of events, mark your calendar and check this website often for updates.  The Hotel Grand Pacific is the ideal place to stay while in Victoria for the Summer Chess Fest, the Canadian Youth Chess Championships (CYCC) or the BC Open Chess Championships.  A special rate has been arranged for the CYCC and is also available for the Summer Chess Fest. See the CYCC website for details.
